My Year Reflection here at Pt England School.

My year here at P.E.S

Beginning of the year-
I wasn't here at Pt England School when this year started. I was at a different school. I chose to move back to Pt England School because I thought it was a really awesome school and we had awesome new teachers. My two uncles Evan and Lukis were telling me that its really fun and they are doing fun stuff here at P.E.S.
That is part of the reason why I came back. I also moved back because kids here at Pt England school had really a really good education here at this school and I wanted one. People also kids using their netbooks have been improving in a lot of work. That sounded awesome.

This has been a really exciting year for me. Getting a new netbook for my school work is cool and awesome. I really enjoy having one because my work has been getting better and better.

My Netbook is really helping me with my work. When we are using our netbooks for our work we go on our Google Drive. Google Drive is a safe place to store our work and thats why I like using it.

This year our school has learnt some awesome new skills in basketball. Last term we  had Coaches for basketball coming into school to help us. They taught us how to play basketball and showed us some awesome skills. That helped us for when we play basketball for a club or when we go and play against other schools around Auckland.

This year I signed up for Touch ,Rugby League and Rippa Rugby. Rugby League was my first sport this year at Pt England. I really Enjoyed playing against other school in Auckland and coming 2nd in our Pool.
The later Ms Tito was running Touch and I signed up for it. We came 5th in our eastern zone tournament. I also Played Rippa Rugby down by the reserve and  we came 2nd in the whole tournament, Miss Vaafusuaga was really happy at all of the teams.

Wow!! This year we had a really awesome Production that Mr Jacobson put in for us. Mr Jacobson named the Production Sixty the Quest. A lot of people signed up and unfortunately some people did not make it in. I signed up for the Production and I made it in, I was really happy. I was in Mrs Tele’a and Miss Erasmus dance group. Mrs Tele’a and Mr Tele’as  Dance group was Michael Jackson dances.

There was a mix of dances and Miss Erasmus dance group was hip hop and thats why I signed up, because I enjoy Hip Hop.
On the actual night of the production. It was really fun and exhausting for me. When we were getting ready we had to put on make up. For Mrs Tele’as dance we had to bring black clothes and white socks. It was getting closer to our turn and I was really nervous but excited at the same time. A few Minutes Later It was our turn to go up.
At the end I thought that the Production was really fun and I wanted to perform again and we did, but this time it was in front of the whole school so everybody at school get to watch it.

My Year at P.E.S was fun, now that is coming up to the end of the year that means that the year 8's are leaving. I think I will miss some of them because they have been really good role models to us.

My Netbook and year reflection

Having a new netbook connected to the internet this year has really helped me with my learning and helped me improve. Using my netbook for my work has made me get better in lots of my work especially writing and what we were  learning during this year.

On my netbook there is a lot of sites that I can go on or use to help me with my school work like Xtra Math, Math Whizz, Google Drive especially and a lot of other stuff………..

It is better than using pencil and paper because when we are using our netbooks we can use Google when we connect to the internet. Instead of using a writing book to write in we open a Google Doc to do our writing in.
Since I have my new chromebook I actually enjoy doing my work now.

During my year here at Pt England School I have learnt our school mihi and i have learnt how to say it in front of my class, I also learnt how to make my own mihimihi to say in assembly.

These last few terms  I’ve been here I  have learnt how to use Imovie when I need to edit my MTV’s or movies that we are working on.
I also learnt how to use hyperstudio and the tools on it properly.

The Google Doc helps us with our spelling because when we get a word wrong there will be a red line underneath it to let us know that we got the word wrong or the word doesn’t make sense.

I’ve learnt to do my work without my teacher having to look at my screen. I have learnt to be trusted with my netbook, and I try hard to do my work and be trustworthy. I try and teach myself not to be dodgy

This year I learnt how to film properly with a camera and I learnt how to film different angles and shots. I also learnt How to use my netbook properly and what sites we are allowed to go on and I also learnt a lot in maths and using new strategies with her.

This year my netbook has been really helpful and I have enjoyed having it.

Earthquake Experience (Fake)

The day started off like a normal day, sunny, no clouds, and a hot day. I was getting ready for school and as I was in the middle of getting dressed the house started to shake. I felt terrified because straight away I had a thought that it was an earthquake but I was not sure. I couldn’t get my mum because she had left to the supermarket but I did ring some family members.

By the time they can it was too late the house had fallen down on to the cars driving past on the busy road and they were not able to get in. The road was blocked and many other houses were damaged. I thought that was the end of the world and my life, but luckily it wasn’t. 3 minutes later all the rattling and shaking had stopped I was so happy.

As everything was settling down we tried picking up the rubble that  had fallen down from the tall buildings.

At the end it felt like a nightmare, a real one! and that was all I remember.

Forensic Scientist

A forensic scientist is a member of the team that investigates a crime scene. In a crime scene their job is to gather evidence such as fingerprints, footprints, blood , hair and bullets.

On Monday a lady named Emma  came to talk to the year 7 & 8 about her life and what she is doing now. She works for Forensic Scientist like how I was just talking about before. Her job is to gather evidence from crime scenes such as fingerprints, footprints, blood, hair and bullets and other evidence.

She is one of the  members of a forensic scientist team that investigates a crime scene. She told us that she really enjoys her job and her studies. “It is not a easy job and it is not a clean job either” she said. It isn’t like how it looks on crime scene programme, it is actually a messy job.

“Wow” I thought to myself that must be a hard working job. “ You'll probably have to have high marks in your school work and studies to do that” I was thinking to myself.

To be a forensic scientist you need to
- You need to know something about science - usually a science degree is required for most areas

-You need to be able to think "outside the box" to analyze evidence - it is not always straight forward

-You should not be disturbed by death or gross evidence items - you might be dealing with dead bodies.
- You need to be able to pass a background check and lie detector test about yourself

Writing Example

Paragraph 1:
It was a thundering stormy night, when we were just about to head off to the supermarket, I ran quickly up the the stairs to get ready, but as I nearly go to the end of the stairs I heard a  noise, it was a screeching  noise. I quickly turned around but there was nobody,”Hello, who’s there?” I said but nobody was there. So I kept walking.

Paragraph 2:
As I got closer and closer to my bedroom the noise got louder and louder, so I started looking for whoever was making that noise. “come out come out wherever you are!” I exclaimed. But the longer it was taking the more angrier and annoyed it was getting. The noise sounded like a screaming which dieing.

I opened my bedroom door and looked everywhere for a person or whoever was making that noise, but I didn’t find it so went into my wardrobe get me a jersey. I sprinted back down stairs to my mum but she wasn’t there. “Mum! Mum!” I cried, I didn’t get a reply so I looked out the window and the car wasn’t there “aye” I thought to myself,”Oh they must of already went to the supermarket and left me behind”.

So I went and watched T.V, and as I was watching the same noise came to the back of my ears. “Whoever you are please get away!”

Future Aspriation

On Wednesday the year 7 & 8's got welcomed us into the hall because a few people from around Auckland came to our school to talk to the year 7 and 8 students. They were people that had dreams or goals that they wanted to achieve and most of their dreams came true.

First there was a young boy named Triston that told us a little about him and what he does in his life. He is in Year 7 at Mt Roskill Intermediate.

He is a really mad about his learning .His mum wants to sit tests for him that are normally done by year 11
But theres more. Guess what or where Triston is going next year. Well hes going to Auckland University and that is pretty amazing I thought.

Triston teaches his self on his own. He mostly studies outside of school hours and says “learning is better than playing video games” “Wow” I thought to myself “that is really amazing”
His special saying was “Quest is fun,Be Nosy”

He really liked being nosy in between stuff like learning. Triston tested on the triple layer milk bottle for the taste, light and acidity.

He found out that the black layer on the milk bottle attracts the sun. He also found out that the milk triple layer bottle degraded faster.

What in the world is going on?

About half a million people were evacuated from their homes as there was a warning that a powerful Cyclone was heading towards eastern India. The Cyclone is known as Phailin. The  Cyclone washed away tens of thousands of mud and thatched roof huts.

Some of the World Strongest storms in recent history have passed the Bay of Bengal,Including the cyclone in 1999 that killed about 10,000 people.
The Cyclone (Phailin) damaged many coastal homes.

My First day I school

Today we had 40 minutes to write a about our first day of school. From looking at our writing we are going to set some writing goals for the term.

For me  the first day of school  was exciting, because I was really determined to start. I wanted to meet new people and make new friends. My big brother started school before me so he told me what it was like,it sounded really fun. As soon as I walked into class I was shaking,my heart was beating so fast that I wanted to go home that time. But my mum stayed with me in class so I can settle in. After my mum left I went around the classroom to meet some new people,I became friends with Taamai,Raeleen,Wakatere and Anamei.

Suddenly I heard a bell ring  I didn't know what it was so I asked my new teacher Mrs Georege, she said it was time for morning tea, so I went to my bag to get some lunch out and sat with my friends. When Mrs George let us go out to play me and my friends ran to the playground. I felt even more scared when I saw big kids surrounding me.
It was nearly time to go back to soon as the bell rang me and my friends went back to class. Then we had a different teacher, her name was Miss Riley she was our art teacher……………..

My Maths Mural

Mahia is an artist. She has been commissioned to paint a mural on wall of a company's warehouse. The company wants the mural to be abstract (not representational) and they want it to show the colours of their company logo. They have specified it needs to have 1/3 blue,  1/6 red, 1/12 yellow, 1/12 white 1/12 purple and 1/4  green. They want it to have 2 lines of symmetry (reflection)  and  a rotating and translating pattern somewhere.

                                                        My Nightmare

A couple of years ago I had a nightmare that I still can remember..........early hours in the morning something was touching me “arghh”I woke up and heard screaming noises in the kitchen so I jumped out of bed but the noise stopped,so I went back to bed. 1 minute later the noise came back and it was coming from the kitchen.

Then I walked to the kitchen,on the way there I saw trails of blood coming from my brothers room, I turned around and walked to his room screeching, screaming and yelling noises were sneaking up to my ears. “arghh’’ something bit me, I turned around and switched  the light on but there was nothing!! I kept on walking to my brothers room, finally I got there and he was not there. The beds were turned upside down, couches were upside down, walls smashed, windows broken “what am I going to do!”? I Said to myself.

I walked into my Mum’s bedroom while I was walking there the same thing came back to my ears, filled with fears I sprinted back into my room and I turned around and these freaky looking zombies were at the back of me “get away from me I don’t know you!what do you want from me? just go” I yelled so they went, when they shut the door I went back to bed and fell asleep. About half an hour later I woke up “haha” I said in my head, until I realised it was just a dream.
